Guide to Event Planning

Unique Ideas and Venues for Themed Parties in Singapore

It is difficult and hectic to plan a party, especially when it comes to planning the theme – not only does it need to be fun and memorable, but it also has to be not too over-the-top, or else your guests might not cooperate. As a result, most parties end up having coloured themes, which is aesthetically pleasing but not that much different from everyone else, or scrape the theme altogether.

Fret not, because here are some ideas that you can consider for your next party, be it a baby shower or a 21st birthday, along with venues that will be perfect for the theme!

Hippie/Boho/Gypsy

For a chill and whimsical party, consider a Hippie/Boho/Gypsy theme. It involves tie-dyes, dream catchers, warm woods, and soothing acoustic or guitar music in the background. Have your guests dress up as though they are going for the Coachella festival (or the Laneway Festival, in the Singapore context), and you can also provide metal tattoo stickers for your guests to complete their looks!

Potato Head Folk

Run by the same group behind Potato Head Beach Club in Bali, Potato Head Folk is situated in an iconic shop house at the corner of 36 Keong Saik Road. It takes up 4 storeys with a different whimsical concept on each level. It also boasts of a rooftop that offers a unique rooftop view of Singapore, as you’d be able to see residential areas, shophouses, and high-rise office buildings. (Discover More)

Tribal/Safari

A Tribal/Safari themed party gets its inspiration from nature, and uses wooden tones, khaki colours, or even aztec prints. You may consider getting some design inspirations from the Boho-themed mentioned earlier, as a fusion of both themes works as well. Guests can dress up like Pocahontas or like a member of The Flintstones, and accessorize it up with chunky necklaces or leather bracelets.

Game of Thrones/Medieval/Rustic

Fans of Game of Thrones, why not have a Game of Thrones/Medieval/Rustic themed party? It’d create an atmosphere of fantasy with elements of chivalry and romance. Guests can draw outfit inspirations from Game of Thrones characters – all black just like the guards of the Night’s Watch, khaki maxi skirt with a crop top like Daenerys Targaryen in Season 1, or turn up in a dragon onesie as Drogon (haha).
