Balzac Brasserie & Bar: A Slice of Paris at Fort Canning Arts Centre

Perched atop a small hill and surrounded by lush greenery, Balzac Brasserie & Bar is located in the rejuvenated Fort Canning Arts Centre. The 3-storey heritage building is home to the Singapore Pinacotheque de Paris, the first extension of the renowned private French art museum Pinacotheque de Paris. It features rare art pieces from artists such as Picasso and Monet, and also has a heritage gallery about Fort Canning.

Balzac Brasserie was previously located in Rendezvous Gallery for more than 2 years before relocating to its new premises in July 2015. We felt that its new premises at the Singapore Pinacotheque de Paris could not be more apt for Balzac Brasserie. Although it is only a 5 to 8-minute walk from the city (Dhoby Ghaut MRT), it is a serene and tranquil location. Thus, you’d be able to take a breather from the hustle and bustle of city life, while enjoying authentic French classics with recipes from Chef Jean Charles Dubois’ hometown of Angers on Western Loire Valley, France.

Poised to open up the elegant space for events, Chef Jean Charles Dubois invited event organizers and Venuerific to Balzac Brasserie’s Event Night.

The interior is welcoming and romantic, with its rustic décor, dark brown hues and warm lighting. On its menu are classic French fare using seasonal ingredients, such as Croque Monsieur Dubois or Madame Dubois (S$22), and Dubois’ Lobster Bisque with summer basil ravioli (S$18). Balzac Brasserie also offers a carefully curated wine list to complete the dining experience.

If you are looking for an intimate dining experience, there is a private dining room available for hire.
